While the iron’s hot …

I dislike ironing, but when I see pieces of patterns neatly pressed and pinned like this ... I fall in love with it.⠀⠀

However, it lasts just a minute, maybe two ... and then I go back to disliking the ironing part of things.⠀⠀

Forgive me. I’m human. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When it comes to the studio, students, and our various projects, I encourage every student to take their time with ironing and pinning as needed.

Normally, I’ll demonstrate for the younger kids who shouldn’t be ironing, but once students showcase the right frame of mind around sewing and prepping their fabrics properly, I’ll let them have a pass at the iron - supervised of course.

Adults are just like me. We collectively curse and praise the iron at once. A pressed seam or fold makes a world of difference to a completed project hence the praise. I suppose the cursing comes from the fact that ironing can be a chore!
